The head of government said this at a briefing on Friday. "Especially I appeal to our Western partners - one cannot supply weapons to those who then use these weapons against independent democratic countries," Yatseniuk said.

In addition, he said that these arms could also be used and "against the Western countries." Yatseniuk also added that last month the Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council banned Ukrainian companies from cooperating with Russia in the military and technical sphere. As reported, the Ukrainian government on Friday approved a bill on sanctions, which will ban supplies of dual-use goods to Russia. "These measures will prevent the aggressor country from modernizing its armed forces," Yatseniuk said. As reported, France is still going to sell Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia despite EU sanctions and urges of the international community to do otherwise.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft law on sanctions against Russia, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said after a government meeting on Friday, Ukrinform agency reported.

"The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft law on sanctions, and this is for the first time in Ukraine's history when we as a nation impose sanctions on foreign entities that committed crimes against our country and our citizens," he said. Yatseniuk said that the bill stipulates possibility of introducing 26 types of sanctions against individuals and entities. In particular, the issue concerns asset freezes, bans on running business in Ukraine, bans on the use of frequencies, the Internet and other means of communication. There is also a possibility of a ban on participation in the privatization of state property facilities, on the use of licenses, as well as a full or partial ban on the transit of all resources. There will also be special economic sanctions such as licensing and bans on financial operations, as well as ordinary sanctions such as bans on entry and movements. The prime minister expressed hope that the Verkhovna Rad, Ukraine's parliament, would approve this bill on Tuesday, August 12.
