Kazakhstan is ready to strongly contribute to the stabilization of the situation in Ukraine so as to get EU sanctions against Russia canceled.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said this after a meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso in Brussels on Thursday, Ukrinform's correspondent reported.
"We are both very concerned about the events taking place in Ukraine. Sanctions help no one, especially in the economy - the European side, Kazakhstan, and Russia. And we are determined to help stabilize the situation in Ukraine, which would create the framework for the gradual removal of the existing sanctions that obstruct the development of the conflicting parties and the world economy as a whole," he said.
