David Yelldell - Expected to be the #2 Bayer Leverkusen goalie, Yelldell has already started in place of the long-term injured starter, been dropped when not at fault for an embarrassing cup collapse and now may again get the nod due to another injury... and it's only week one of the season. Oh, did I mention Bayer are in the Champions League group phase?
Maurice Edu - The Rangers midfielder is also drawing some transfer interest, but for the moment continues to hold down an Ibrox place. The Scottish champs have stumbled a bit out of the gate, falling from the Champions League to the Europa League right away.
Jozy Altidore - It sure didn't take long for the AZ summer catch to take a bite out of the Eredivisie; Altidore scored his first goal of the season 15 minutes into his opening day debut. Like the U.S. power forward, AZ are a work in progress. However, technical director Earnie Stewart is hoping to improve on last season's fourth place finish,Eric Decker Jersey.
Michael Bradley - Expect him to be somewhere else by the end of August, perhaps moving in with one of a few Serie A clubs pondering whether to offer him a Borussia Moenchengladbach escape route.
Steve Cherundolo - The Hannover 96 skipper starts the season at the tail end of recovery from that Gold Cup final injury. The Reds will soon begin Europa League play, the first of Cherundolo's career.
Jonathan Spector - Freshly signed at Birmingham City, the defensive handyman will drop down a flight while also getting his first shot at Europe in four years with the defending League Cup champs. Look for Spector to easily top his career high of 27 games played in a season.
Keepers
Clarence Goodson - Not to seem repetitive, but... Brondby's new captain will marshal the defense for a club trying to get back to its best. With the attack a question mark, the pressure for now is on Goodson and the back to keep things low scoring.

With the traditional fall-spring European season underway or set to kick off, let's set the stage for the Americans playing club ball overseas.
Jermaine Jones - He was expected to be gone by now, but Jones started Schalke's Bundesliga opener. The biggest obstacle to his moving is the cost, both in fee and salary. The Miners would sell him, but are more focused on getting back near the top of the league after a disappointing 2010/11 season.
Alejandro Bedoya - Assuming Rangers don't strike a deal to get him a little early, the Orebro workhorse will do his thing in Sweden until the end of the season. Then, in January, Bedoya will join a Light Blues squad that needs impact in attack midfield if they want to succeed on their four-peat quest.
Sacha Kljestan - The U.S,Ben Roethlisberger Steelers Jersey. midfielder now seems firmly entrenched in the Anderlecht midfield just one year after his arrival.
Stuart Holden - The reigning Bolton Player of the Season has recently started individual training and should hope to rejoin the selection next month. As for Wanderers, whether they can improve on last season's 14th place finish will have a lot to do with how well manager Owen Coyle can keep the squad in one piece.
Timothy Chandler - The FC Nuremberg right-sider starts the new campaign trying to shake off a last minute training knock. He's begun the season at right back, but a massive attack defection in the offseason could see him used situationally up the wing.
Several U.S. internationals have moved address, while others still may before the transfer window closes on August 31, but many of them have already begun the championship chase,Marshawn Lynch Youth Jersey.
Freddy Adu - While still Benfica property, reports of another chance there were greatly exaggerated. Still,Shonn Greene Jets Jersey, the playmaker's agent is taking calls, with France, MLS and Turkey outed as options.

Defense
DaMarcus Beasley - Of course, not everything abroad revolves around Europe, and Run DMB arriving in Mexico to play for "PachucAmerica" is news. He's fit in well early, notching an assist and a penalty win from his early appearances. As for the team - which includes fellow U.S. midfielder Jose Torres - they will be looking to erase the embarrassment of last year's basement finish.
Oguchi Onyewu - The man they call Gooch hopes to have settled at Sporting CP after a couple years of career uncertainty. Onyewu is one of many fine new addition to the Lions den, and early on he appears in a starting job battle. The good news is his team look ready to challenge for their first Portuguese crown since 2002.
Midfielders
Clint Dempsey - Maybe the Fulham star should have been included with the forwards, but we all know he'll move around the formation, making big plays where ever he goes. Of course, of Dempsey intends to continue a streak of improving his overall Cottage goal total for the fifth straight year, he will need to bag at least 14. Always a player of interest to other clubs (until they see his price tag), Deuce also gets another crack at impressing in the Europa League.
Zak Whitbread - Several Americans left the Prem this season, but one joined the big time when Norwich City claimed an automatic elevator with second place in the Championship. Can Whitbread and his teammates survive in the EPL? Perhaps,Troy Polamalu Youth Jersey, but they will all need to raise their game.
Carlos Bocanegra - The U.S. captain has opened the new Ligue 1 season wearing the Saint-Etienne armband on a temporary basis. Bocanegra was again at left back in the opener, but that too is subject to change. The team, meanwhile, still seems the mid-table sort.
Herculez Gomez - Staying in Mexico, we find former Pachuca striker Herculez Gomez off to a decent start with early strugglers Tecos. Of course, struggling is nothing new to this club.
