BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Hungarian champions Debrecen have named Czech Miroslav Beranek as their new manager until December 2007.He takes over from Attila Supka who resigned three days ago after a poor start to the season and heavy criticism from club co-owner Gabor Szima.
Beranek, 59, was a coach with the Czech national squad from 2002 and 2006 and also managed Slavia Prague in the 2002/2003 season.
Last week Debrecen suffered a 5-2 aggregate defeat in their Champions League second qualifying round tie with Macedonian team Rabotnicki Skopje.
They have taken four points from their first two domestic league games this season.
