There were 10 crewmembers aboard the ship, all citizens of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Markiyan Lubkivsky said eight sailors had been rescued and taken aboard by the Inka Dede (flying the flag of Antigua) as of 7.30 p.m. (1630 GMT). The ship is on its way to the port of Suda, Crete.
The fate of two Ukrainians remains unknown. The search is continuing. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and embassy in Greece are watching the situation.
