As of morning December 16, decline in water level has been fixed in all rivers of Zakarpattia region, west of Ukraine (Transcarpathia), the Emergencies Ministry said on Thursday.
As reported, water has been removed from 201 residential homes in 12 districts, 1,058 basements of houses. As many as 49 houses, 1,911 yard farms and gardens remain flooded so far. Moreover, high water left 2,854 hectares of farmland, while 323 hectares are still under water; water was pumped from 1,443 wells and 175 wells were disinfected. 270 people and 35 vehicles are involved in emergency and recovery operation. A total of 42 localities in Transcarpathia were hit by flooding on December 7-10 causing more than UAH 61 million (USD 1 - UAH 7.96) in damages, according to preliminary estimates.
