UZHGOROD, Ukraine – In continuation what has already become an annual tradition, the Jewish community of Uzhgorod has received 1370 kilograms of matzah and 660 bottles of grape juice to provide to members of its community.
This Passover shipment also contain 1400 kilograms of kosher sunflower oil and 20 boxes of matzah flour for use in baking dishes for this holiday.
This shipment was made to this west Ukrainian city of 117,000 thanks to the generosity of the Jewish community of Budapest. Under the leadership of Rabbi Menachem Taichman and Ivan Moshkovich, Jews from the Hungarian capital have been providing their counterparts in Uzhgorod with Passover supplies every year since the first year of this initiative demonstrated the operation to be successful.
This act of charity and solidarity between Jews of different countries will once again help members of the local community to celebrate Passover in accordance with Jewish tradition.
