Presidential Secretariat challenges NATO referendum

The Presidential Secretariat has appealed at Kyiv's Administrative Court of Appeal a judgment of Kyiv's Administrative Court obliging President Viktor Yushchenko to declare a referendum of Ukraine's possibility to join NATO, Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Maryna Stavniychuk has told a briefing Friday.

As reported, in July 2009, Kyiv's Administrative Court obliged President Viktor Yushchenko to hold a referendum on NATO and CES. The question was about a referendum based on the people's initiative regarding Ukraine's NATO accession and participation in the Common Economic Space (CES) along with Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
