Verkhovna Rada fails to pass non-confidence motion over Yulia Tymoshenko's government

The motion was initiated by the opposition Party of Regions. Having heard and discussed the Cabinet's report on socio-economic situation in the country, the parliament did not pass the draft resolution.

A total of 203 MPs voted for the decision with 226 MPs needed

This is the second attempt of the opposition to vote non-confidence in Tymoshenko's Cabinet. In July 2008, the Party of Regions tried to dismiss this government but failed with only 174 MPs backing the motion.
