Ukraine is not ready yet to apply for accession to the European Union, Oleg Rybachuk, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, said on Friday“We are not ready for the accession, as Ukraine must be prepared to meet certain commitments resultant from the EU membership. Europe is trying to understand the logic of our government so that it could choose a format of our dialog,” he told a Friday press conference in Uzhgorod.



Rybachuk said he took calmly the recent statement by European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner, who offered Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine friendship and active cooperation in the New Neighborhood policy of the European Union, but strongly recommended them to forget about membership in the EU for the near future.
