Hungarian PM not to hold informal talks with Slovak counterpart in Prague

Prague, June 16 (MTI) - Hungary's Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany told MTI on Monday he would not meet his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico for informal talks during the Visegrad Four summit they are currently attending in Prague."Naturally, we will exchange a few words during lunch, in the summit breaks or over coffee," Gyurcsany added.

Hungary's Foreign Minister Kinga Goncz earlier said preparations were under way for an official Gyurcsany-Fico meeting. However, she stressed that genuine improvements were needed in bilateral ties before a meeting of the two prime ministers could come about.

The latest episodes of a bruised Hungarian-Slovak relationship include a disagreement over housing the Slovak ethnic minority council in a Hungarian village and the Slovak coalition member SNS leader Jan Slota's calling Goncz a "woman with a messy hairdo."

Poland took over from the Czech Republic the presidency of the Visegrad Four, that also includes Hungary and Slovakia, for next year.
