The European Commission has allocated a loan of 500 million euros to Ukraine as part of the second program of macro-financial assistance, the commission's press service has reported.

The sum disbursed on Wednesday is the second and final loan tranche of the EU's 1 billion-euro macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine approved earlier this year. The press service noted that the objective of the programs is to support Ukraine financially while encouraging important structural reforms aimed at improving governance, delivering sustainable economic growth and supporting legislative harmonization with the EU.

EU Finance Ministers intend to meet on December 9th to discuss additional financial aid to Ukraine, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The meeting was initiated by Germany that will preside in the G7 next year. The finance ministers plan to evaluate Ukraine's financial state and discuss tentative amounts and terms of the aid in addition to the approved 1.6-billion-euro package. In the near days Kyiv is expecting the arrival of half a billion euros as part of the macro-financial assistance package.
